This form has been designed to provide an estimate of the quantity of solar power required to run a certain set of appliances (ie. loads). In the form below, please fill out the appropriate fields to calculate your needs.

STEP 1: Specify your loads

select the appliance(s) you wish to run and enter the power ratings using the wattage chart at the right for assistance. Then indicate the average number of hours each day that the appliance will run. If it is an appliance that is used only once per week, divide its run time by seven. The totals are automatically calculated.

Total power requirement:   watt-hours / day

STEP 2: Select the peak sun charging hours of daylight corresponding to your location

The diagram at the right indicates average peak sun hours. Choose the value corresponding to your geographic location in the dropdown menu. For summer, add 1 to the value shown in the diagram; for winter, subtract 1.
